Johanna Griggs speaks to students about the need for positive health and wellbeing

Beyond Blue

As part of the Kid's Day No program, Johanna Griggs returns to CBHS for the third year in a row!

Described by our students as 'inspirational', 'down to earth' and simply 'a big unit', ex-Olympian and TV presenter extraordinaire Johanna Griggs visited CBHS and spoke with students in her capacity as Beyond Blue ambassador and board member. Johanna describes this work as 'very important' and on her instagram account commented: "Was an honour to speak yet again at Canterbury Boys High School about the importance of Good Mental Health, educating them about Anxiety and Depression, and what they can do if they are worried about someone close to them. They are a wonderful bunch of young men, and I'll get to catch up with them again soon at their Graduation of the Kid's Say No program".

The Kids Say No program is led by Snr Cons Danny Kidd from Belmore PCYC. The program teaches young people about healthy relationships and raises awareness of the effects of domestic violence. Two weeks ago, Andrew O'Keefe, White Ribbon Ambassador spoke to the CBHS community.

Within this weeks learning, Johanna spoke with students about the need for positive health and wellbeing and strategies that can support young people. She also spoke about the outstanding work of Beyond Blue across Australia in supporting young people. Access to the Youth Beyond Blue website is here: https://www.youthbeyondblue.com/

The Graduation for Kid's Say No is 12 September. It is a celebration shared with participating students, their families, local schools and representatives from NSW Police. Johanna Griggs will again proudly be attending the Graduation event.
