Aboriginal education at Cantebury Boys High School

Canterburys Boys High School is proud to respect Aboriginal peoples as the first peoples and custodians of NSW. Our student leaders proudly begin each assembly with an Acknowledgement of Country and as a school, we explicitly teach the histories, values, languages and cultures of Aboriginal people and ensure these are valued and respected. The "8 ways of learning" is embedded into school practices.

Special religious education

NSW schools offer special religious education. A special religious education program (SRE) is available at Canterbury Boys for:

  • Combined Christian
  • Islamic.

SRE occurs for Years 7 to 10 students during period one each Thursday morning. If your child is in SRE, the Department of Education policy states that no new curriculum learning can occur. Our boys participate in the schools wide reading program if they are not in SRE. Students continue in the same arrangement each year, unless a parent or caregiver requests a change in writing. At any time, you have the right to change your SRE nomination or to withdraw your child from the nominated lessons. A note to the principal is needed for this to occur.

The SRE note can be accessed here.
